Drinking Water Problem Resolved in Kepsut

Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın, who has mobilized all departments to improve the public’s quality of life and resolve their concerns promptly, is delivering equal and fair services to every location—from the city center to the most remote rural neighborhoods. Under Mayor Akın’s leadership, the Balıkesir Water and Sewerage Administration (BASKİ), which has expanded the city’s drinking water sources, has put an end to the long-standing water shortage in the Mehmetler neighborhood of Kepsut. Residents, who until now had been relying on water delivered by tanker trucks, now have access to safe and uninterrupted drinking water for the first time.

CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW 2,400-METER DRINKING WATER PIPELINE COMPLETED

Water, which residents of Kepsut’s Mehmetler Neighborhood—who make their living through agriculture and livestock farming—had long been deprived of, has finally reached their neighborhood thanks to BASKİ’s intensive efforts. Acting on Mayor Akın’s instructions, BASKİ completed the construction of a new 2,400-meter drinking water distribution line extending from the drinking water reservoir in the Keçidere neighborhood to the Mehmetler neighborhood, providing the local community with a healthy and uninterrupted water supply. Not only the drinking water pipeline but also the electrical lines, pumping system, and necessary infrastructure included in the project were built from scratch and put into operation.

BASKİ General Manager Erdoğan Öztürk, who successfully coordinated all efforts to complete the construction of the drinking water distribution network in the neighborhood, stated, “This project is highly valuable from both a technical and humanitarian perspective. Residents of the Mehmetler Neighborhood will now have access to an uninterrupted water supply from their taps. Together with our team and under the leadership of Mayor Ahmet, we have accomplished a significant project. Behind this service lies Mayor Ahmet Akın’s people-centered vision.”

The local residents, who had been facing water shortages for years, expressed their satisfaction, noting that Mayor Ahmet Akın had kept his promise to the neighborhood upon taking office.
