The results of the 8th Mediterranean Municipal Project Competition, organized this year by the Union of Mediterranean Municipalities with the aim of improving the quality of municipal services, recognizing successful mayors, and supporting these efforts, have been announced. The 8th Mediterranean Municipal Project Competition Awards Ceremony was held at the Mimar Sinan Congress Center.
The jury awarded Fethiye Municipality’s “We Are Improving the Soil” project in the Landscape, Planning, Design, and Implementation Projects category. The award was accepted on behalf of Fethiye Municipality by Sabri Oğuz Bolelli, Deputy Mayor of Fethiye.
Through the “We Are Improving the Soil” project of the Fethiye Municipality Department of Sanitation, biodegradable organic waste from areas such as gardens, markets, and open-air markets is collected by Fethiye Municipality teams. The collected waste is converted into compost under natural conditions using the windrow composting method. The resulting compost is used in landscaping projects and for the rehabilitation of burned forest areas.
