Polling stations will be set up at FTSO on October 17: Çıralı called on members to vote

Fethiye’s business community has been informed of the election schedule. Osman Çıralı, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FTSO), outlined the dates of the chamber’s elections, the voting requirements, and the procedures to be followed by representatives of legal entities during a press conference he held.

Voting location: Atatürk Elementary School

Noting that, in accordance with Law No. 5174, chamber elections are held every four years in October and November, Çıralı stated that the application submitted to the District Election Board has been finalized. Accordingly, the FTSO elections will be held on Saturday, October 17, at Atatürk Elementary School (formerly the Vocational High School), across from Salı Market.

Members will elect members of the 13 professional committees within the chamber, as well as members of the assembly and the disciplinary committee.

Voting requirement: two years of active membership

Çıralı emphasized that, as required by law, membership must have been active for at least two years in order to be eligible to vote. This is one consequence of moving the election to October: According to Çıralı, if the vote had been held in late November, approximately 30–40 more members would have completed the two-year period.

Members with outstanding debts will be able to vote provided they pay off their debts.

Individual representatives will be able to vote using an election-specific e-Registry Certificate or an Election Authorization Certificate obtained from the Commercial Registry Directorate. Company representatives with individual authority can obtain the e-Registry Certificate through MERSIS. Legal entities may also apply to the Commercial Registry Directorate via petition to obtain a Election Authorization Certificate.

Approximately 5,800 members will go to the polls

Noting that there are approximately 6,500 registered members in the FTSO and that the number of active members, after excluding suspended members, falls within the range of 5,800 to 5,900, Çıralı stated that the elections must reflect the free will of the members.

Çıralı said, “On October 17, we want our members to exercise their right to vote and fulfill their democratic rights and duties. Our goal is to work together to serve our members, our city of Fethiye, and our region to the best of our ability.”
