Summer Sports Camps Kicked Off with Enthusiasm in Milas

The ceremony, which featured 1,232 athletes competing in seven sports—volleyball, handball, chess, folk dances, basketball, table tennis, swimming, and gymnastics—drew significant interest from the athletes’ families as well.

The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, and concluded with gymnastics and folk dance performances.

Fevzi Topuz, President of the Milas Municipality and Sports Club, noted in his speech at the ceremony that the club had shown significant growth thanks to the importance it places on its youth development program. Topuz stated that since taking office, they had increased the number of sports disciplines from 3 to 7, the number of coaches from 7 to 16, and the number of athletes from 267 to 1,232,” Topuz said. “This is not just an increase in numbers; it is an effort to provide equal opportunities for our children. We view sports as a realm of development that goes beyond competition. With the opening of our swimming pool, we’ve expanded our facility capacity, and our sports halls have transformed into vibrant spaces where multiple sports converge,” he said.

President Topuz emphasized that the undefeated handball team, the volleyball team—which has become a regional brand—and the chess players competing in Turkish championships are the pride of Milas. He noted that the club supports athletes’ physical and mental development through athletics programs, nutritionists, and development initiatives. Topuz stated that these achievements were made possible by the trust of parents, the dedication of coaches, and the determination of administrators, adding, “We are moving forward with a philosophy that prioritizes local values and views sports as an integral part of life. I hope our 2025 Summer Sports School will offer our children an enjoyable and educational summer,” he said.
